Best Crew. Best Snorkel Tour.
What Makes Us Different?
Our crew is the secret behind our 40+ years of success and what makes us one of the best snorkeling experiences on Maui. The Maui Magic crew truly embodies the “Spirit of Aloha.” Hands down, they are among the best on the island. Simply put, they love what they do, and it shows.
Our crew takes pride in creating a memorable experience while making every guest feel like family, or ʻohana, as we say here in Hawaiʻi. Our captains and crew members are highly trained, knowledgeable, and genuinely accommodating, providing personalized, one-on-one attention to each guest.
Above all, they are dedicated to ensuring everyone onboard enjoys plenty of fun and a truly memorable Hawaiian snorkeling adventure.

Captain Charlene (Retired)
Hometown: Salem, OR
Captain Charlene was a dedicated member of the Maui Classic Charters team from 1987 until her retirement in February 2026—longer than any other crew member in our history. Over the years, she shared her expertise across several of our vessels, including the Teragram, the original Four Winds, and the Lavengro, before ultimately serving as captain of the Maui Magic. In addition to her remarkable career on the water, Charlene was a Hawaii State Women’s Slalom Windsurfing Champion—a true reflection of her skill and lifelong connection to the ocean. She is greatly missed.

Captain Kiwini
Hometown: Maui, HI
Captain Kiwini was born and raised on Maui and has spent most of his life in the ocean. With over 30 years of experience as both a captain and scuba diving instructor, he brings deep knowledge and skill to every trip. Over the years, he has worked on boats out of Lahaina Harbor, the Kihei Boat Ramp, and now Māʻalaea Harbor. A true local, Kiwini is known for being able to fix just about anything. You can find him captaining both the Maui Magic and the Four Winds III.

Captain Jason
Hometown: Eugene, OR
You’re in for an adventure when Captain Jason is on board. Known as our very own “MacGyver,” he’s prepared for just about any situation. Jason has been with us since 1998 and captains both the Maui Magic and the Four Winds III. He also leads our crew training in Advanced First Aid, CPR, and AED, and is qualified in Wilderness & Remote First Aid. Don’t let his dry sense of humor fool you—he’s one of the most capable captains you’ll ever meet.
